Daily Renewal

"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

I was having a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad WEEK. It was coming from all sides: family issues, big events, relationship conflicts, work stress, etc. I felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders and that no one was trying to help me with the heavy load.

Then, during my daily Bible reading I came across the above verse. The words leapt off the page and right into my heart. Don’t you just love it when God places things in the Bible thousands of years ago just for you? Those words are exactly what I needed to hear.

Maybe you are like me and so very often you get caught up in the little details of life and lose the big picture. God is renewing us DAILY! Just that alone is like healing balm to stressed souls. Every single day, God is giving us just what we need and making us a better Christian. Every day! The troubles that we are going through are not just momentary irritations, but they are helping us achieve a glory that will last forever!

I absolutely love these reminders. I love knowing that the problems and struggles that we are going through are just issues we are facing now, not forever. I know they seem huge and looming, but they will soon fade. We live for an eternal world, not a temporal one.

Are you living your life today as someone who is looking at an eternal future, or are you being drowned in the struggles of everyday life? Lift your eyes up and receive your daily renewal. Fix your eyes on the Eternal One and let the truth of Him seep into your soul. Be refreshed.
