Faithful In Little Things

Grocery shopping is definitely not on my list of favorite things to do. You have to fight a busy parking lot to find a parking spot. You have to maneuver carts with shaky wheels around obstacles, and for some reason the most popular spot in the store is the one aisle that you need to be in. No, grocery shopping is not fun. But the absolute worst part of grocery shopping is the grocery cart. After you have finally weaved your way through the crowds to obtain the things you need, waited in line, and paid for your items, the cart stands between you and freedom.

Almost every single time I am tempted to leave the cart in the parking lot and not walk the mile to return it to the proper spot of the “cart corral.” If you look around the parking lot, you usually see a lot of people who have had the same line of thinking. It’s not their job, they’re tired, someone who works there will return the carts. But every single time I am tempted to just leave the cart, I am convicted. If I am not faithful in the small, unimportant, “cart corral” decisions in life, can God trust me for the bigger ones?

I want to prove to God that I will be faithful, both in the little things as well as the big ones. What are the small, seemingly unimportant, decisions in your life that God is calling you to integrity on?

As for me, you will see me in parking lots, hufflingly, but obediently, putting away that rickety grocery cart. It may not be the most fun thing in the world, but at least I know that’s one less grocery cart standing in the way of me and God.

Luke 16:10 "Whoever can be trusted with very little can also be trusted with much..."
