Life Groups

If you are not connected to a Life Group, you are missing out.  Really.  Trust me.
Our first Life Group meeting of the New Year went something like this....

First of all, I didn't want to go out in eight degree weather.  I could've easily stayed home.  To stay home with our fireplace blazing was pretty tempting.  But I thought, if others are making the effort, I really had no excuse.  Besides, someone was bringing chili and I have to say that probably was the push that got me out the door.  As it turned out, there were eight of us that showed up.  We had no set agenda it being our first meeting after the holidays. After all, we had a lot of catching up to do.  It is an all ladies group, need I say more.  I LOVE my Life Group because it is "come as you are".  If I want to come in my gym clothes and not give a second thought about what my hair looks like, I know no one cares.

We just care about each other.  We all sat around with hot drinks and bowls of chili on our laps with multiple conversations going on at once.  Then it happened.  One of the ladies, accidentally flipped her spoon from her chili bowl onto the gal who was sitting next to her.  Chili flew everywhere.  And I mean everywhere...in her hair, on her clothes, on the couch, the cushions, the blinds, etc.  The whole room was silent for a moment, in shock of what had transpired.  Then, the laughter erupted. We all laughed ourselves silly.  Everyone busily started trying to clean the chili off of everything and the jokes never stopped.  Oh my, we concluded that God knew we needed to laugh.  Best medicine ever.  Look what I would've missed!

To add to the hilarity, the owner's little dog was obviously having "issues".  I'll spare you the details.  Being the empathetic women we are, we concluded the dog needed to be seen by a vet, yes, at 8:30 at night.  The owner was not physically able for the task, so one of the ladies who had worked ALL day (and had brought the chili) volunteered to take the puppy to the vet.  Yes!  At 8:30 pm!  In eight degree weather! Wow! I saw love in action right there in front of me.

Needless to  say, I am so glad I didn't talk myself out of going that night.  We laugh together, we pray together, we cry together, we eat together and we love together.  The apostle Paul calls that, "fellowship".  Don't miss out!
